5.11 Tactical ATAC 8" Station Plus Boot (MES Exclusive)
cont'd 1 - Literature. Menus aren't bad but a deeper explanation would be nice and something on what this has been tested capable of withstanding. Expensive toy to learn its limits the hard way. 2 - The hand lanyard they give you with it is a joke. That little nylon string to fit in that tiny hole in chassis wouldn't stand up to any kind of heat or reasonable use. I made a small loop out of thin safety wire and hook that to a clip. 3 - A storage case would have been nice at this price point. I'm using a camera case to store it now. 4 - Slightly larger buttons, especially the capture button for use with bulky gloves. 5 - LASTLY and probably most importantly, the temperature readout just doesn't seem to jive with regular fire service TICs. it seems to read about 20% low consistently. I have stopped using this part all together due to the unreliability of it.
WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN? for my purposes, YES

Thanks to Mario form MES NW for facilitating this great product into my training regiment.
Best in class dexterity
These gloves offer insane dexterity and tactility.

Decent boot can't beat the price.
Can't do better than this boot.
Best boots we ever bought. We tried the higher priced "big brand" models. But in the end, this was the only boots to satisfy all of our 48 firefighters without any complaints.
Disappointed with this boot. We went with it since its cheaper than the higher end boots. But we made the wrong choice. Materials are second rate, they wear out quick and don't provide the same level of performance as the other leather boots. They are uncomfortable after wearing them for any extended amount of time.
Great bang for the buck
Nice gloves, fit well, comfortable fit. A great value

Very comfortable boot right out of the box, very pleased with them, zipper makes it very quick and easy to get on and off
Great boot, and great price.
These are the best boots we have ever used. We used to have the more expensive boots, but these boots are more comfortable, protect better, better slip resistance and last way longer than any of the other brands we have ever tried. Not sure why these boots are marked at $399 on this site. You can find them for $299 on any other site out there. We paid even less than that for our department. All of our 85 firefighters are extremely happy with these boots.
Great protection. Can't beat their warranty.
These are great boots. Great price, very comfortable and light. But best of all, I cut them with my chainsaw during a fire, and the company replaced them for free ! The boots saved my foot. These boots were 2 years old, and they stood by their product and their warranty.
Great scene light!

We got two of these at our station and they are incredible. The remote is small and easy to misplace so we put a giant keychain on the end of it to keep it from being lost.
I guess I'll Be first
Ok, First let me say I am using this as a personal alternative to a full fledged Fire Service TIC for fire training purposes. That said, this thing is pretty nice. The screen is bright, case seems to hold up in less than friendly conditions although I have not exposed it to long term high heat or direct water. The pictures it creates are pretty decent for being a lower resolution. The flashlight is just interesting and does not compare to a Streamlight. The few things I wish were improved-1000 Character limit
Purchased and within 3 months it's falling apart, manual isn't even in US measurements and found out fan goes over sees to be fixed.
Leader = non US import crap
Tough as nails protection. Extremely high thermal protection and the most durable of the group
by Jim P.
I seen one of these in action. It's an impressive device. Especially still capture feature.
Not worth the money
These have to be the worst wildland boots our crew has ever had. They are expensive, and uncomfortable. They cost way too much, for what they are worth.
Ok construction, zipper poor design.
Boots seem decent quality. Front Zip is difficult to zip when on the foot..maybe it will resolve after breaking in. Not satisfied with the design overall. Probably going to lace the boots regularly and forego the zipper since clearance items are not refundable.
Run small for those with wide feet
I just got them, so, this is just a fit report. I wear 11EE in Whites. I ordered the Cosmas in 11.5EEE, and wish I had bought a 12EEE. The 11.5 are too narrow in the toe area. Maybe they will stretch?
They are also real tall. Mine measure 12" from the ground to the tallest part of the cuff.
First impression: stiff and rugged.
Our department purchased two and we deploy these on several incidents from Major accidents to night time training fields. A very good investment for our department.
Why I recommend Blastmask
by Brandon - TVFR
I recommend the BlastMask for the following reasons: Breathing through a face mask with a BlastMask feels very similar to breathing off of a SCBA bottle. BlastMask’s literature states that using it while wearing a SCBA bottle/harness provide the same VO2 reduction (e.g. – aerobic capacity reduction) as wearing and breathing off of a SCBA. The VO2 reduction for both is 14.9%. Since air from a SCBA bottle is not used, there is no need to refill SCBA bottles after use—saving firefighters time. It is lightweight and portable. It is a durable, high-quality device that will last for a long time.
A very comfortable alt to the logger style Wildland boot.
Recently purchased these boots and went to work as soon as I got them. By far the best boots I have ever owned! Will purchase a 2nd pair soon!
